Pickpocket Incident at Local Restaurant Caught on Video, Police Share Tips to Avoid Being a Target

One of our readers shared a video from a local restaurant security camera that captured the moment a thief with an accomplice stole her Chanel wallet and its contents from her purse, which was hung across the back of her seat.

She praised the restaurant management and Greenwich Police for their quick response and cooperation.

Deputy Chief Mark Zuccerella shared some advice to prevent becoming a victim, including:

• Park in well-lit areas.

• Close and lock your doors when parking and do not leave any valuables inside

• Avoid driving or shopping alone when possible.

• Do not leave your purse unattended in a shopping cart

• When possible, avoid taking your purse with you. Instead, carry your valuables in your pockets.

• Do not carry a large amount of money.

• Lastly, he said, to always be alert and aware of your surroundings.
