Pedestrian Struck By Car in Glenville Has Died; Police Release Her Identity

On Monday Greenwich police Captain Mark Zuccerella released the name of the pedestrian struck by a car last Thursday on Weaver Street.

Around 3:16pm on Thursday, police responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Weaver St and Hawthorne St North. A Lexus struck a pedestrian walking her dog off the roadway and in a grassy area. She was taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The driver was not injured. The dog involved did not sustain any injuries, and family members took custody of the animal.   

Monday morning, Zuccerella said in an email to media that on Sunday, Donna Joy Berry, 63, of Greenwich, died at a local hospital of injuries she sustained on March 9, 2023. 

Zuccerella said Ms Berry was struck while she was standing on the side of the road on Weaver Street near Hawthorne Street North by a vehicle that had driven off the roadway.

This collision continues to be actively investigated by the Greenwich Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team.
