Old Greenwich Man Charged with DUI after Crashing into Rock Wall on Cognewaugh

On Oct. 23, at about 8:00pm Greenwich Police were dispatched to the area of 480 Cognewaugh Rd on the report of a motor vehicle accident.

The vehicle involved, a black Chrysler Town and Country with a Connecticut registration was disabled as a result of a collision with a rock wall in front of 480 Cognewaugh Rd.

The operator of the vehicle, identified Peter Harrison, 53, of 6 Hassake Rd Old Greenwich, was observed to still be within the driver’s seat of the car, which was still running when emergency services arrived.

After initiating contact with Harrison, members of the Greenwich Police Department were immediately able to detect the distinct odor of that associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages upon his breath and person.

Mr. Harrison was asked to perform a series of standardized field sobriety tests, to which he complied and subsequently failed.

A Dept of Motor Vehicles query revealed the registration for the vehicle expired on Aug. 27, 2014.

Harrison was placed under arrest for DUI, Failure to Drive Right and Unregistered Motor Vehicle. He was unable to post his $250 bond and was subsequently held at the Greenwich Police Department. He has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Nov. 2.
