New Year’s Day Driver Stopped at Green Light Faces Multiple Charges

police stationOn New Year’s Day, at approximately 3:30am, Greenwich Police officers on patrol in the area  of I-95 exit 3 and Arch Street

Greenwich Police Officers on patrol in the area of Arch St at 3:30am on New Year’s Day observe a car traveling west on Arch Street and later observed the car stopped at a green traffic light at Arch Street’s intersection with Railroad Avenue.

The vehicle was additionally observed turning right onto the 195 exit 3 entrance ramp. A motor vehicle stop was conducted.

The driver, Phillip Bonaparte Jr., 41, of 66 Reynolds Ave in Stamford, had the odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from his person and breath. He was asked to submit to a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which he subsequently did not perform to standard. A DMV inquiry additionally revealed that Bonaparte did not possess a valid license to drive due to suspension. He was placed under arrest and charged with DUI, Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Signal, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

Bonaparte was unable to post bond of $250. He was issued a court date of Jan. 15, 2015 at Stamford Superior Court.
