New Canaan Woman Charged by Greenwich Police for Identity Theft, Larceny, Interfering with an Officer

A New Canaan woman was arrested by warrant by Greenwich Police on Aug 13 for an incident that occurred on Milbank Ave back in May 2019.

The warrant stemmed from an investigation by Greenwich Police surrounding fraudulent use of an individual’s credit card and then making false statements.

Jasminka Baney, 39, of Frogtown Rd in New Canaan was developed as a suspect after the daughter of the victim, a 74 year old resident of Milbank Ave, reviewed transactions that seemed suspicious.

“This woman was working providing in home health care services to a patient,” said Lt Slusarz.

Larceny 2 is theft of over $5,000 or if the victim is 60 years of age or older.

It was later determined that Baney made transactions using the victim’s credit card.

Police say Ms Baney turned herself in and was charged with Interfering with An Officer/Resisting Arrest, False Statement, Identity Theft 2 and Larceny 2 for the May 15 incident.

Baney’s bond was set at $50,000 which she was able to post. She has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Sept 4, 2019.
