Multiple Charges for New Haven Woman after Incident in Greenwich Department Store

On the afternoon of Nov 19, multiple Greenwich Police officers were detailed to a department store in the area of East Elm Street and Greenwich Avenue on a report of a possible fraudulent transaction.

Police say a clothing and physical description was provided to plainclothes officers and other police units who responded to the area.

Investigation revealed that the suspect, Lawanda Murdock, 43, utilized a victim’s name and identity information through a fake ID and credit card in an attempt to obtain merchandise valued over $20,000.

Ms Murdock was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt Larceny 2, Larceny 3, Criminal Attempt Larceny 3, Identity Theft 1, Identity Theft 2, Criminal Impersonation, and Forgery 2.

Murdock was remanded into custody per her parole officer and was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 3, 2021.
