Multiple Charges for Man Who Drove Past Greenwich Police While Looking at His Cell Phone

At about 6:00pm on Sunday, July 17, Greenwich Police, who were in the parking lot of 100 Davis Avenue monitoring traffic on Davis Avenue, spotted the operator of a red Mustang operating his vehicle while looking down at his phone.

The operator later identified as Tito H Jaramillo, 58, of 1  Le Grand Ave in Greenwich failed to stop when the officer attempted to make a motor vehicle stop, instead making a turn into the driveway of 1 Le Grande Avenue.

According to a police report, after speaking with Jaramillo, the aroma of alcohol was emanating from his person. Mr.  agreed to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety testing which he was not able to perform to standard.

Jaramillo was arrested and charged with Disobeying the Order of an Officer, DUI and Operating a Motor Vehicle  while using a Hand Held Mobile Phone. His bond was set at $250 and he was release with a court date on August 8, 2016 in Stamford Superior Court.
