Man Wielding Machete on Greenwich Ave Arrested by Greenwich Police

On Dec. 17 at about 4pm, multiple Greenwich Police units responded to 410 Greenwich Ave on the report of a man brandishing and concealing a machete within a grey colored plastic shopping bag and heading towards the Greenwich train Station.

Responding officers at first were not able to locate the subject. Greenwich police then received a phone call from the McDonald’s restaurant located at 268 West Putnam Ave that stated man was within the restaurant and left a machete within the restroom.

The investigation revealed that the man, identified as Eric D Eddings, 35, of 300 S Regent st Port Chester, was creating a disturbance in the restaurant, mumbling out loud and asking patrons for money.

An inspection of the public restroom revealed the described machete that was 24″ in total length within the gray colored plastic bag located on the bathroom floor.

A small plastic baggie containing a white substance that later tested positive for cocaine next to a pay stub with Eddings name imprinted on it was located on the bathroom counter. Located upon Eddings person was a second knife 11″ in long, concealed under his jacket.

Eddings was arrested and charged with Breach of Peace 2nd, Possession of Narcotics, and Carrying Dangerous Weapons. He was assigned a court date of Dec. 28 in Stamford Superior Court. Eddings was given a bond of $1,000, which he was able to post and was released from custody.
