Man Charged after Injuring Dog, Tying Him Alongside Road and Abandoning Him

On Valentine’s Day a Port Chester man was involved in a domestic incident in Greenwich in the area of Rodwell Avenue in Chickahominy. During the incident the man, identified as Alex Orozco, 18, of 13 Eldridge Street in Port Chester, NY dragged a dog attached to a leash from his car, causing injuries to the dog.

According to Lt. Slusarz, the dog was a mixed breed dog that did not belong to Orozco. The dog was taken to the veterinarian to be treated for the injuries and has since been returned to its owner.

Immediately after causing the injuries, Orozco tied the dog up alongside another road, abandoning it.

Mr. Orozco did not remain on scene and Greenwich Police obtained a warrant for his arrest for Cruelty to Animals, a Felony.

On April 4, Greenwich Police extradited Orozco from Westchester County Jail and transported to Greenwich Police headquarters.

Orozco’s bond was set at $50,000 which he was unable to post. He was placed in the police cell block and assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on April 18.
