Landlord and Tenant Charged after Fight in Byram

On Monday afternoon Greenwich Police responded to an address on North Water Street in Byram on a report that a tenant had allegedly assaulted his landlord, resulting in a head injury.

During on scene investigation, the landlord, Paul Wahrenberg, 61, of Easton, CT, related that his tenant, Mauricio Alfonso Rodezno-Ruano, 37, had struck him in the head with his cellphone and hand, and when he tried to pull away, he also hit his head on the apartment screen door.

Mr. Rodezno-Ruano said the landlord, Mr. Wahrenberg had jostled his apartment door and proceeded to engage him in a verbal altercation that escalated to a physical fight. He said that during the scuffle numerous potted plants and outdoor accessories were knocked over.

Mr. Wahrenberg sustained a laceration to the top of his head and was seen by medics, but he signed the medic’s Refusal of Medical Assistance form.

Mr. Rodezno-Ruano was charged with Assault 3 and Disorderly Conduct. His bond was set at $250, which he was able to post and he was released from custody. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on July 27, 2020.

Mr. Wahrenberg was issued a summons for Disorderly Conduct and has a court date on Aug 6, 2020.
