Greenwich Police announced Tuesday night that on September 18, during the normal course of business at a construction site in northern Greenwich, workers discovered what appeared to be human remains after soil was disturbed by an excavator.
The remains were carefully collected from the scene. The Connecticut State Police assisted the Greenwich Police Department in the investigation, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to take custody of the bones.
Preliminary information indicates the remains are of considerable age.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct further examination, and any additional information will be released by their office as it becomes available.
At this time, no further details are being released.
