Home Invasion Suspect Now in Custody of Greenwich Police

A man who was wanted by Greenwich Police for Home Invasion, Assault 1st degree, Larceny 6th degree, Robbery 1st degree and Kidnapping 1st degree following an Aug 4 incident was extradited from New York to Connecticut on Wednesday.

Hassan R Washington was wanted in relation to a home invasion that took place on on Brook Drive back on Saturday, Aug 4. On that date, police discovered a victim restrained and bleeding from injuries sustained the a home invasion.

The victim reported that he had been bound and beaten by a group of armed individuals who had forced their way inside his home and demanded cash and jewelry.

Officers treated the victim’s injuries and searched for suspects in the area.

Greenwich detectives processed the scene for evidence, interviewed witnesses and developed several leads on suspects. Evidence indicated this was a targeted incident and not a random act.

Investigators were able to quickly identify one of the suspects as Hassan R Washington, 46, of  275 Cherry Street in New York City, and obtained a warrant for his arrest, including provisions for extradition and a court set bond of $500,000.

Greenwich detectives were able to determine that Mr. Washington was possibly located at a New York City address and requested assistance from the New York Violent Crimes Task Force.

On Tuesday, Aug 7, agents and officers from the FBI and NYPD arrested Mr. Washington.

Police say investigation continues and they expect to make additional arrests.
