The Stamford Police announced their Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad completed an investigation into a serious injury resulting from a collision of a motor vehicle into a pedestrian that occurred on the 400 block of West Main Street on back on February 16, 2025.
Stamford Police said that back on that Sunday morning about 7:00am, a 2008 Lexus SUV struck a pedestrian, a 57 year-old Stamford resident, as it was traveling westbound on West Main St. The pedestrian suffered very serious injuries and was transported to Stamford Hospital and later admitted to the I.C.U.
The Lexus fled the scene of the collision. Officers from the Patrol Division, using multiple investigative techniques, were able to identify the vehicle involved as well as locate the possible operator of the vehicle.
C.A.R.S. officers assumed control of the investigation and were able to complete a search warrant for the vehicle, which was later brought to the Stamford Police Dept for processing of evidence.
The investigation determined that this was an intentional act on the part of the driver, who was identified as Jeremiah Vizzo, a 43 year-old Stamford resident.
An arrest warrant application was completed for Vizzo, which was signed by Stamford Superior Court.
The warrant was for the charges of Assault in the First Degree, Reckless Operation, and Felony Evading Responsibility.
Mr. Vizzo surrendered at Stamford Police Headquarters on Monday April 7, 2025 and was held on a $75,000 court set bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 21, 2025.
This collision was investigated by Sgt. Jeffrey Booth and Officer Cory Fisher.
