Greenwich Teen Charged with Forgery after Counterfeit Bills Passed at Local Restaurant

Ahmed Raza Rajput, 18, of 30 Brookside Drive #1C was arrested by Greenwich Police on Sunday. At about 2:00pm Greenwich Police were sent to a restaurant on West Putnam Avenue on the report that counterfeit U.S. currency bills were passed. The management was able to provide the officers with a description and name of the suspect who was located by Greenwich Police officers while he was walking back to his apartment and was identified as Raza Rajput.

Upon interview, Rajput did say that he received counterfeit bills, did go to the Restaurant, and did use the bills there.

The United States Secret Service was contacted to assist in this investigation as it involves counterfeit US currency.

Rajput was charged with Larceny 6th degree and Forgery 1st degree. He was held on a $500 cash bond and has a date in Stamford Superior Court set for July 27, 2015.
