Greenwich Suspect in Double Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash Extradited from Florida

On Friday January 13, 2023, Stamford Police announced that Greenwich resident Michael Talbot had been extradited from the Collier County Florida Detention Center and transported back to Stamford.

Mr. Talbot was charged for his involvement in a double fatal motor vehicle collision that happened on December 3, 2022. Giovanni Vega-Benis and Yuliana Arias-Lozano were crossing Washington Blvd at Main Street when they were struck and killed by a 2022 Mercedes being driven by Talbot. Talbot attempted to flee the scene of the collision, but he was found by Stamford Police patrol officers hiding behind a shed on Relay Place.

A warrant for Talbot’s arrest was signed on Jan 4, 2023.

A statement from Stamford Police on Jan 5 said as soon as the warrant was signed they began to make efforts to take Talbot into custody.

They learned Talbot was in Florida visiting family. With the assistance of Collier County Sheriff’s Office in Naples, he was taken into custody at about 8:15pm and held on the Stamford arrest warrant.

On Jan 13 Talbot was charged with:

Manslaughter 2 degree (2 counts)

Manslaughter 2 degree with a motor vehicle (2 counts)

Operating Under the Influence

Reckless Operation

Talbot is being held on a $1,000,000 Court set bond. He will be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Tuesday January 17, 2023.
