Greenwich Police issued a warning to residents not to fall victim to lottery scams.
According to Lt Patrick Smyth, recently some town residents received letters allegedly from “Highlight Lottery Inc” claiming they won an “International Lottery” and they should send a check to cash to cover taxes and fees.
“Once you cash the check, which will eventually get returned as non-payable they can get access to your bank account and withdraw your money,” Smyth warned.
Do not cash these checks or give any personal information to people you do not know.
