Greenwich Police Sweep AAA Northeast Traffic and Safety Awards

AAA Northeast has recognized Officer Vincent Loria as a Traffic Safety Hero and the Greenwich Police Department for its numerous Traffic Safety programs that keep Greenwich residents safe year-round.

At AAA’s recent seventh annual Community Traffic Safety Awards lunch, AAA commended Officer Loria for his traffic safety efforts and commitment to safety of Greenwich motorists.

Loria was nominated by Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey. In 2015, Officer Loria made 719 motor vehicle stops, issued 669 infractions and conducted several searches for contraband, which led to narcotic seizures and several arrests in town, Chief Heavey wrote on his nomination of Loria, adding that in addition to his enforcement efforts, Officer Loria is the department’s liaison officer with other enforcement units within the region. He also is a police instructor and an accomplished police motor officer.

At the annual event, AAA Northeast also honored the Greenwich Police Department with a Gold Award for outstanding traffic safety programs, including the Citizens’ Police Academy, a middle school physics and crash education program, and a AAA Driver Improvement program aimed at senior drivers.

In addition, the Town of Greenwich has a Traffic Safety Committee composed of representatives from Police, Fire, Education, Public Works, and Emergency Medical Services, who meet regularly to tackle important traffic safety issues. This is the seventh year AAA Northeast recognized the Department with a Gold Award.
