Greenwich Police Swear in Newest Officer

On Monday Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey welcomed the newest officer to the Greenwich Police Department’s ranks.

Turiya Hamilton was sworn in by First Selectman Fred Camillo in the Margenot Atrium at the Town of Greenwich Public Safety Complex.

Turiya Hamilton was born in Roundrock, Texas and raised in Racine, Wisconsin.

She graduated from Washington Park High School in 2014 – one full year early. She then attended Gateway Technical College and Westfield State University, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Bridgeport in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Human Security, with a concentration in Criminology.

Prior to becoming a Greenwich Police Officer, Officer Hamilton worked for the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch as a Judicial Marshal.

Officer Hamilton also has experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Officer Hamilton’s cousin, Myles Barry, is also a police officer. He is with the Caledonia Police Department in Caledonia, Wisconsin.
