Greenwich Police Plan Traffic Enforcement for Distracted Driving

From now until the end of October, the Greenwich Police Department and other departments throughout Connecticut will be conducting high-visible traffic enforcement on the roadways aimed at distracted drivers.

In a Facebook post announcing the effort, GPD wrote that in Connecticut last year, there were over 5,400 crashes attributed to distracted driving.

They said drivers need to focus on the road and not their phones or devices.

They request that parents remind their 16 and 17-year-old drivers they are prohibited from using a cell phone or mobile device at any time when driving, even with a hands-free accessory.

If you have a phone in your hand while driving, expect to be stopped and issued a ticket. $200.00 for the first offense, $375.00 for the second offense, $625.00 for the third and subsequent offense.
