Greenwich Police Investigate Vehicle Theft and Suspected Shooting

At approximately 4:55 am on Tuesday, Greenwich Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft on the west side of town.

During the incident, the victim interrupted the theft in progress and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing what they believed to be a gunshot. While the victim’s injuries are consistent with shrapnel from a discharged firearm, no direct gunshot wound was identified. The exact circumstances surrounding the reported noise and resulting injuries remain under active investigation.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Bridgeport by officers from the Bridgeport Police Department. A suspect connected to the incident has been located and is currently in Bridgeport Police custody.

A bullet casing was discovered inside the recovered vehicle. Detectives from the Greenwich Police Department are currently on scene in Bridgeport as part of the ongoing investigation.

At this time, the incident appears to be an isolated case of vehicle theft. There is no indication of a broader threat to the community.
