Greenwich Police Determine “Kill Bob” Sign by RTC HQ was a Misunderstanding

Around 11:30am on Tuesday, Greenwich Police alerted media they had received a complaint regarding a sign that said “Kill Bob” on a fence near the Greenwich Republican Town Committee office.

Captain Mark Zuccerella said GPD officers were on scene investigating the complaint.

Around 12:45 police updated the media to say that after investigation they determined that the sign had nothing to do with any candidate for office or any other person.

Captain Zuccerella explained that there is a martial arts studio next door to the Greenwich RTC headquarters, and that the classes use a  practice dummy the children in the class named “Bob”.

Zuccerella said the sign, created by the children in the class, was posted on the fence for the students to see when they are in class practicing.

“This was an unfortunate misunderstanding and not done with malice toward any person,” he said, adding that the matter was closed on the part of GPD.

The sign initially was initially interpreted by some as a reference to Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Stefanowski because of its proximity to Republican headquarters in Greenwich.
