First Selectman Fred Camillo swore in Officers Richard Delvecchio, Tessa Garcia and Daniel Gillespie on October 1 at the Town of Greenwich Public Safety Complex.

Officer Delvecchio was born in Stamford and attended Greenwich Country Day School and Trinity Catholic High School. Officer Delvecchi then attended and graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2023 with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice.
Officer Garcia was born and raised in New York. She attended Sacred Heart University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Criminal Justice. An athlete from a young age, Officer Garcia played soccer, basketball, and softball. In 2022, she was recognized as Sportswoman of the Year. She has spent several years coaching her high school’s varsity soccer team. Officer Garcia is passionate about helping others and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity since 2019, and was the Co-Advocacy Chair in 2020-2021.
Officer Gillespie was born and raised in New York. He earned a Bachelor’s in Homeland Security from St. John’s University and then a Master’s of Professional Studies in Homeland Security and Criminal Justice Leadership.
From May 2023 through April 2024, Daniel worked with the US Park Police. He attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, where he took their Uniformed Police Training Program and the US Park Police Agency Specific Basic Training. Officer Gillespie is also a volunteer with the Garden City Volunteer Fire Department.
He was the recipient of the 2021 American Legion William Bradford Turner Post 265 Law and Order Award.
He was recognized as the Garden City Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter of the Year in 2022.
The Greenwich Police Dept said they were thankful the officers chose the Greenwich Police Dept for their career in law enforcement. They began academy training on October 4, 2024, at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden.
After their six-month police training, they are expected to provide service, respect, courage, fairness, and diligence to the residents and visitors of the Town of Greenwich.
