Greenwich Police Charge New Canaan Man with Evading Responsibility

On May 5 a New Canaan man turned himself in at Greenwich Police headquarters on an outstanding warrant for leaving the scene of a car crash in the area of Dingletown Road and Doubling Road.

Police say around 12:20am April 2, 2022, Brian T Kennedy, 61, was traveling west Doubling Rd near Dunwoodie when his right front tire left the roadway and the car made contact with a large rock.

According to Deputy Chief Kraig Gray the impact caused the car to bounce off the rock and back onto the roadway. The car then crossed the double yellow lines and traveled approximately 30 ft before hitting a mailbox, where it came to rest.

Kennedy, who was alone in the car, evaded responsibility by not reporting the accident or staying at the scene.

He was charged with Evading Responsibility/Injury/Property Damage and Failure to Drive in Proper Lane.

His bond was set at $5,000, which he was able to post. He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on May 19, 2022.
