Greenwich Police Charge Alleged Drunk Driver Who Crashed into a Pole in 2022

On April 28 close to midnight Greenwich Police responded to Alvord Lane in Stamford where there was a man with a warrant from Greenwich Police from a previous incident.

Police said the warrant stemmed back to an incident on the afternoon of April 2, 2022 when Greenwich Police responded to Bruce Park Ave on a report of a car that had crashed into a pole, with no injuries reported. When they arrived, officers observed a 2019 gray Honda Civic with heavy damage to its passenger side with airbag deployment.

The accused, Juan Vasquez-Ramirez, 39, of Stamford was standing by the car but did not remember how the accident had occurred. He did remember he had been in Bruce Park by himself drinking cognac. Mr. Vasquez-Ramirez was transported to Greenwich Hospital where a search warrant application was complete for the blood samples and ultimately an arrest warrant regarding this incident was obtained.

Vasquez-Ramirez was charged with Illegal Operation Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Failure to Drive in Proper Lane.

He was able to post the required 10% of his $5,000 bond and was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on May 8, 2023.
