Greenwich Police Arrest Alleged Porch Pirates in Cos Cob

Greenwich Police said they arrested suspects who allegedly stole a package from a Cos Cob resident’s doorstep.

The incident took place on the morning of Nov 19 on Maplewood Drive, which is off Loughlin Ave.

Police said that when the responded to a report of the package theft and description of the suspect vehicle they were able to locate the vehicle and stop it.

Police determined the driver and his passenger had stolen the package, and that the proceeds were located in the vehicle.

Police arrested the drive Jose M Ortiz-Espinal, 30, of Bronx, NY and charged him with Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Trespass 3, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6 and Interfering with an Officer/Resisting.

Police also arrested the passenger, Juan Emilio Candelario-Vicente, 25, of Yonker, NY. He was also charged with Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Trespass 3, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6 and Interfering with an Officer/Resisting.

Bond for each was set at $1,000 and each was able to post the required 7% cash option. Both were released and share a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 4, 2024.
