Greenwich Man Driving While Drinking Had Open Cooler in His Car

A local man was arrested by Greenwich Police on July 19 and charged with Drinking While Operating a Motor Vehicle.

According to Greenwich Police at about 6:00pm, Kenneth A Alfano, 63, of 174 Davis Ave in Greenwich was observed by a civilian in the area of Bruce Park and Davis Avenue driving erratically while drinking an alcoholic beverage.

According to Greenwich Police, in plain view, the arresting officer observed an open cooler containing three empty 11.2 oz bottles of Mike’s Hard Lemonade and four empty 50 ml bottles of Jack Daniels Tennessee Whisky.

Mr. Alfano related to police that he drank one Mike’s Hard Lemonade on his way from Danbury, made a stop at home and drank a second one on his way to Stop & Shop, and that the other alcoholic beverages were consumed by another passenger.

Mr. Alfano agreed to a series of standardized field sobriety tests which, police say, were conducted for Mr. Alfano’s safety due to a pre-existing medical condition.

He was then placed under arrest for Drinking While Driving. He was issued a Misdemeanor Summons and released on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on July 31, 2017.
