Greenwich Man Charged with DUI after Police Receive Report of Erratic Driver

Dennis Sweeney, 56, of 37 Fletcher Ave in Greenwich was arrested on Sept 4 at about 8:15 pm following an incident on E Putnam Ave.

According to Greenwich Police at about 8:15pm, there was a call regarding an erratic driver heading west on East Putnam Ave driving a gray Toyota Camry. Greenwich Police were patrolling the area and observed the car fail to maintain a proper lane and cross over the solid white line onto the shoulder.

While performing on-scene investigation, police observed that Mr. Sweeney had a distinct odor consistent with consumption of alcoholic beverage. He admitted to drinking that evening and was also observed to be lethargic, unfocused and unsteady on his feet when exiting his vehicle.

He was charged with DUI and Failing to Drive in the Proper Lane His bond was set at $300, which he was able to post and was released. He has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Sept 19, 2106.
