Greenwich Man Arrested on Fugitive From Justice Warrant from Delaware

On Tuesday Oct 16 around 11:30am, Greenwich Police officers were sent to Chestnut Street in Byram to locate a man identified as Sam Klein who had an active fully extraditable arrest warrant from Delaware.

Police located Mr. Klein, 62, of 131 Pecksland Rd, in his car in the area of Val’s Putnam Wines & Liquors at 125 West Putnam Ave.

After confirming the warrant was active, Mr. Klein was arrested and processed for the charge of Fugitive From Justice.

According to Lt Slusarz, Mr. Klein was wanted in Delaware for Failure to Appear in Court.

Mr. Klein made news in Greenwich this summer when his business, Étourdissant, received permission from the Planning & Zoning Commission to use a Chestnut Street warehouse in Byram to store exotic and antique cars.

At the June 26 P&Z meeting neighbors turned out to oppose the facility, which is in a General Business  zone surrounded by residential neighborhoods.

On July 10, the P&Z commission approved the application with a host of conditions, including that there would be no liquor served or sold in the facility’s 1,000 sq ft “high end lounge” area.

Mr. Klein’s bond was set at $100,000 which he was able to post.

He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Oct 31, 2018.
