Greenwich Mail Man Charged with Stealing Gift Cards

On March 20 Greenwich Police went to the Amogerone Crossway post office branch in Greenwich and arrested a US Mail Carrier for stealing gift cards from mailings that were intended for Greenwich residents.

The arrest followed a three month long investigation by the US Postal Service Office of the Inspector General, the CT Financial Crimes Task Force and Greenwich Police Dept.

Investigation revealed that Ismail Laksabi, 43, of 7 Springdale Court in Norwalk, a US mail carrier, was stealing the gift cards. An arrest warrant was issued on March 12.

Laksabi was charged with Larceny 6 (3 counts), Credit Card Fraud (13), Credit Card Theft by transfer, Less than $500 on Revoked Payment Card (6 counts).

Laksabi is being held on a $25,000 bond. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 28, 2018.
