Greenwich Driver Charged by Warrant for Hitting Parked Cars, Trees, Mailbox Before Fleeing

On March 10 Greenwich Police arrested Jesse F. Sammis IV, 52, o Greenwich on an active arrest warrant pursuant to his involvement in a motor vehicle crash back on Feb 11, 2022.

Investigation determined that Sammis was the operator of a vehicle that struck two parked vehicles, two trees and a mailbox on Den Lane in Pemberwick before fleeing the scene.

Sammis was located later in the evening and, police say that based on his slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and inability to communicate, he was believed to have been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Police say a toxicology report later confirmed Sammis had an elevated blood alcohol content.

As a result he was arrested and charged with Evading Responsibility, DUI, Improper Turn/Stop, and Unsafe Movement.

Sammis was released from custody after posting his $25,000 court set bond and was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 24, 2022.
