GPD: Tip about Erratic Driver Leads to Multiple Charges

On Friday, April 23, around 9:40pm Greenwich Police were contacted about an erratic driver heading east on East Putnam Ave near Exit 5 who was swerving all over the road including into the lane of oncoming traffic.

The vehicle was then observed on Havemeyer Lane crossing the double yellow line and driving erratically leading to a motor vehicle stop.

Police say the driver, Charles Maxwell Warner, 28, of Stamford, had red glassy eyes was unfocused and had the odor of alcohol. He was unable to perform standard sobriety tests to standard.

Police determined his vehicle registration had expired on March 11, 2020.

He charged with Failure to Drive Upon Right, Illegal Operation of Motor Vehicle Under Influence of Alcohol/Drug and Driving an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

His bond was set at $250 which he was able to post. He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on June 4, 2021.
