UPDATE: 2:20pm Greenwich Police Tweeted that the dump has reopened and that the Stamford Police Dept’s Bomb Squad investigated the item which appeared to have been inert military training ordnance.

Original Story: On Thursday around 1:00pm Captain Kraig Gray said in a text that Holly Hill Resource Recovery Facility is temporary closed due to a suspicious package.
Captain Gray said, “A bomb squad has been requested from Stamford Police Dept and there is no danger to the area residents.”
Lastly, Captain Gray added that Greenwich Police expect a resolution in one to two hours.
On Greenwich Police Dept’s Facebook page they posted the decision to close and evacuate was made out of an abundance of caution. They added that the suspicious package was found in the refuse piles.
