On Saturday, Sept 9 plainclothes officers from Greenwich Police Dept observed suspicious activity at a local bank in the area of Field Point Road.
Along with patrol officers they were able to detain and positively identify three suspects: Kareen Edwards, 32, Erica Verne, 30, and Santhiana Altidor, 31, all residents of Brooklyn, NY.
Police said that Ms Verne and Ms Altidor presented a stolen $5,298 US Treasury Check which bore the personal Identifying Information of the victim in an attempt to cash the check.
A search incident to arrest of Ms Verne and Ms Altidor revealed six additional US Treasury Checks with a total value of $8,127.64 and several credit/debit cards in other people’s names.
Mr. Edwards was charged with:
Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 1, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2 (two counts), Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3 (9 counts), and Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation.
His bond was set at $50,000, which he was unable to post, and he has a date in Stamford Superior court on Sept 25, 2023.
Ms Verne was charged with:
Criminal Attempt Larceny 3, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3, Identity Theft 1, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 1, Identity Theft 2, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2 (two counts), Conspiracy to Commit identity Theft 3 (nine counts), Criminal Impersonation and Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation.
Her bond was set at $20,000, which she was able to post. She is also due in court on Sept 25.
Ms Altidor was charged with:
Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3, Conspiracy to Commit Identity theft 1, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2 (two counts), Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3 (9 counts), and Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation.
Her bond was set at $20,000, which she was able to post. She is also due in court on Sept 25.
