GPD Arrest Suspect in Cos Cob CVS ATM Burglary of $32,000

Greenwich Police have made an arrest for a burglary of an ATM at the CVS at 122 Post Road in Cos Cob on the morning of Feb 22, 2018.

On that morning, the responding officer found the ATM had been forced open and emptied of cash.

The owner of the ATM confirmed over $32,000 had been stolen.

The crime scene was processed and physical evidence was collected.

Detectives noted the characteristics of this incident were similar to two previous ATM burglaries. The first occurred on Aug 14, 2017 at the Shell Gas Station at 1429 East Putnam Ave where over $46,000 was stolen. The second was at the same CVS location and occurred on Nov 14, 2018. In that incident over $26,000 was stolen.

Police say extensive investigation by detectives included review of surveillance footage from numerous cameras, assessment and comparison of the modus operandi used by the suspect and liaison with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies led to a suspect.

After obtaining search warrants for cell phone records and financial records, investigators established probable cause for an arrest warrant.

On Tuesday morning around 6:00am Greenwich Police arrested Joshua B. Moore, 39, of 7 Acadia Lane in Shelton.

He was charged with Burglary 1, Larceny 1 and Criminal Mischief.

Mr. Moore’s bond was set at $250,000, which he was unable to post. He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday, Jan 30, 2019.

Police say the investigation continues and there may be additional charges.
