DUI for Driver Who Nearly Hit Cement Column under I-95 in Byram

police stationGreenwich Police Officers were on patrol in Byram on Friday afternoon, Dec. 19 when they observed a vehicle traveling east on Delavan Ave that veered in a northern direction, crossing the double yellow line and entering into the westbound lane of travel.

The vehicle was additionally observed to veer in a northern direction on the shoulder and nearly collide with a cement pillar holding up the I95 overpass.

When police stopped the car, the operator, Marlene C Gonzalez of 7 Ruby St Stamford, displayed red glassy eyes and the odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. She was asked to submit to a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which she subsequently did not perform to standard.

A DMV inquiry additionally revealed that Gonzalez did not possess a valid driver’s license. She was placed under arrest and charged with DUI, Failure to Drive Right, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License.

Gonzalez posted bond of $250 and was assigned a court appearance date of Jan. 2, 2015 at Stamford Superior Court.
