Driver Who Crashed into Stone Wall Had Half-Filled Bottle of Tequila in Trunk

On Tuesday night around 7:00pm, Greenwich Police responded to the area of Old Mill Road near Cherry Valley Road on a report of a vehicle that crashed into a stone wall in the northernmost side of Old Mill Road.

Police said that upon investigation the accused, David Antonio Rincon, 26, of Stamford, was showing signs of impairment. He was not able to perform field sobriety tests to standard and was arrested.

He was charged with Evading Responsibility, Illegal Operation Motor Vehicle Under Influence of Alc/Drugs and Failure to Drive in Proper Lane.

Police said that upon searching Rincon’s vehicle, a half-filled open bottle of Mi Campo Tequila was located in the trunk, and that Rincon stated that he had called for a tow to take his vehicle prior to police arriving. However, Rincon had not notified police of the crash.

He was released after posting the required 7% of his $300 bond ($21.00) and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on October 1, 2024.
