Couple Charged with Shoplifting Handbags on Greenwich Ave Worth $3,311

A couple were arrested on Saturday following an incident on Greenwich Avenue that took place on June 17.

Police said that on June 17 police working in central Greenwich business district were notified about a shoplifting incident involving two people at a local retailer.

Investigation revealed that Sergio Valdes-Diaz, 41 and Michelle Quevedo, 33, both of the same address in Woodside, NY concealed two handbags and utilized a shoplifting device to defeat security sensors as they exited the retail store.

The shoplifted handbags were valued at $3,311.

Patrol officers detained and positively identified Mr. Valdes-Diaz and Ms Quevedo. They were processed and charged with Organized Retail Theft, Larceny 3, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3 and Conspiracy to Commit/Illegal Possession of Shoplifting Device.

Each was able to post a $3,000 bond and was released. They are scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on July 1, 2024.
