On Saturday, just after midnight, Greenwich Police spotted a red Mercury sedan with New York license plates headed west on East Putnam Ave near the intersection with Hillside Road with extensive damage to its front end.
A motor vehicle stop was conducted and it was determined that the vehicle had been involved in an accident on I-95 southbound and had left the scene. The operator of the motor vehicle, Jonathan Maldonado, 24, of 339 Locust Ave in Port Chester, was observed to be under the influence of a alcoholic beverage and was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI.
Maldonado was able to post a $250 cash bond. He was released and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on September 28.
