Assault, Strangulation Charges for Greenwich Man After Violent Incident

Greenwich Police responded to a report of a physical altercation in the western part of Greenwich on Saturday, June 27, around 7:20pm.

Police said their investigation revealed that the arrestee, Anthony DeVita, 38, engaged three different victims in an altercation that turned physical and that Mr. DeVita was the primary aggressor.

Police said that in order to prevent one of the victims from calling the police, he wrapped his around her neck, making it hard for breathe, and shoved an elderly victim to the ground with both hands.

Mr. DeVita was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Interfering with an Emergency Call, Assault 3, Assault on Elderly Victim and Strangulation/Suffocate 3rd degree.

He was able to post the required 7% minimum of his $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date in Stamford Superior Court on June 29, 2026.
