Arrest Made in 2019 Handbag Theft from Saks Fifth Ave

On June 1 Greenwich Police responded to Westchester County Correctional facility in Valhalla, NY to extradite Maurice White, 46, of Mt Vernon, NY, who was wanted on charges stemming back to Jan 2019.

Police say on Jan 19, Mr. White and an accomplice ran into the store and stole numerous handbags and then left.

Mr. White was charged with Larceny 1, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 1 and Organized Retail Theft of $10,000 or more.

His bond was set at $10,000 which he was unable to post. He was assigned a date in Bridgeport Superior Court on June 3, 2020. According to the CT Judicial Branch website, Mr. White’s next appearance is August 6, 2020 in Stamford Superior Court.

Mr. White was familiar to Greenwich Police Dept. Back in 2015, Mr. White allegedly ran out of the back of Saks on Greenwich Ave with multiple fur jackets and vests valued at over $10,000. He was charged with Larceny 1 and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 1, both felonies. According to Greenwich Police at the time, the seven furs included a Chinchilla vest as well as a dyed blue rabbit fur vest, a brown rabbit fur vest and a green fur vest.
