The National Weather Service is closely watching a weather system that could impact Greenwich with periods of heavy rain on Sunday afternoon.
The Greenwich Office of Emergency Management shared a post saying that with current ground conditions already saturated, potential heavy rainfall on Sunday may lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas. While conditions are being monitored closely, the Dept of Emergency Management recommends preventative steps that can help protect your home and property:
Clear Drainage: Check gutters, downspouts, and street drains to ensure they are clear of leaves and debris.
Protect Valuables: Move electronics, storage boxes, and items off the floor in basements or areas prone to flooding.
On Sunday, the NWS forecasts a 100% chance of precipitation and a high near 66°. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
For Sunday night, the forecast is for periods of rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 11:00pm, then rain likely. Low around 59°. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
On Monday the forecast is for mostly cloudy skies, with a high near 67°.
