In January, the Greenwich Parks & Rec dept announced that a “Hot Shots” Basketball Competition on Monday, Feb 1, 2016 at the Central Middle School Gym, and Violet signed up.

The “Hot Shot” Competition was co-sponsored by the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association. Violet was a winner in her category, girls division age 13-15, which advanced her to the State Meet in Old Saybrook.

“Hot Shots” is a basketball skills contest that required running, ball control, shooting ability and strategy. It is designed to promote enthusiasm, fun, physical fitness and sportsmanship. Each player will receive three (3) timed round of one (1) minute each to run and dribble to and shoot from “hot spots” marked in various locations on the gym floor. Points are awarded for shots made and also for attempting shots on all of the hot spots.
