Next for the Wrecking Ball in Greenwich: 1890 Farmhouse and Barn in Backcountry

A single family house and barn that date back to 1890 at 1141 King Street, now 1 Element Lane, has been noticed for demolition with the Town of Greenwich building department.

The property sold on Aug 30, 2017 from The Hope G Solinger 2013 Trust to King Street Holdings LLC for $1,575,000.

More recently it sold from King Street Holdings to Plaza 200 LLC on Aug 19, 2021 for $2,850,000.

Paperwork in the building department indicates the applicant/owner is David Solarz.

The property at 1141 King Street was advertised as the last remaining parcel of the Gimbel Property, with 19.12 acres, existing home and detached garage with apartment.

Back in April 2022 the Planning & Zoning commission approved unanimously, 5-0, a site plan and special permit for a cluster subdivision for 5 detached dwellings, greenhouse, shed and tennis court on 19.13 acres at 1141 King Street and to rezone from RA-4 (proposed to be re-zoned to RA-CC4) Zone.

The commission also approved a zoning text amendment to allow for a conservation subdivision given the property was larger that 10-acres and preserves at least 40% of the total land area in a conservation easement.

1 Element lane was advertised as new construction, as part of a modern luxury gated community, ELEMENT, “where modern details meet natural beauty,” featuring high-end sustainable architecture spanning roughly 12,781 square feet on a 3-acre lot.
