Walter King Howe III, 85

Walter King Howe III, of Old Greenwich, passed away peacefully in his home January 23. He was 85.

Born in Hartford April 22, 1933 to Walter King Howe Jr and Elsie Fahl, Walter graduated from William Hall High School in West Hartford before receiving his B.A. from Wesleyan University and his Master’s From Union College.

He worked as a comptroller for over 25 years for the International Paper Company, and devoted much of his time to various causes such as serving on the Board of Directors and Treasurer of Chaplaincy at Nathaniel Witheral, and Elder and bookkeeper for the Presbyterian Church of Old Greenwich, treasurers of the Community Bible Study, a driver and board member for Call-A-Ride, Greenwich, and a tax volunteer at Greenwich Library.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife, of over 40 years, Laura (Anne Crowe); his loving children Debra Erickson (George), Mark Howe (Charlene), Peter Howe (Denise), Sherry Howe, Lindsay Roberts (Geoff), and Step-daughter Nancy Fuller (David); his cherished grandchildren Caitlin, Dillon, Keagan, Cory, Jessica, Jamie, Ryan, Travis, Sydney, Douglas, Roger, Andrew, Adam; and great-grandchildren Stella Luna and Abigail.

He also leaves behind his loving sister Gail Smith and sister-in-law Linda Singleton (Frank). The family would like to thank Caring Hospice, Visting Angels and Dr. Franklin Loria and his staff for their wonderful care and support.

To honor Walter’s life, a service will be held on Monday, February 04, 2019, 1:00pm at Living Hope Community Church, in Old Greenwich.
