Teresa Evaristo, 92

Teresa Evaristo, 92, of Chickahominy, passed away peacefully on February 14 with her daughter and grandson by her side. We are truly blessed to honor the life of a wonderful sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and pillar of the Chickahominy community.

Teresa was born on December 29, 1928 in Greenwich to Mary Vidone (Petrizzi) and Albert Vidone. She attended Greenwich Public Schools. She married her husband, Lawrence Evaristo, also from Greenwich, in 1951. She was a devoted housewife who also worked outside the home at American Bridge League, Greenwich Office Park, and at Putnam Green. Together she and Larry formed lifelong friendships and ties with many town events, notably golf tournaments.

She enjoyed watching the Yankees, and golf on TV, and took great pride in her beautiful gardens. Her greatest joy was her family and she hosted many holidays at her home, to include nephews, nieces, and close friends of the family. She will always be remembered as the “matriarch” of the family and was a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews.

Teresa is survived by her daughter, Michele Pirre of Carmel, NY, her daughter and caretaker, Laurie Tischler of Greenwich, granddaughter Sarah Pirre of Darien, CT, grandson, William George Tischler of Greenwich, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence J. Evaristo, sisters Marie A. Belmonte and Elizabeth A. Kristoff, and nephew Armand M. Belmonte.

She will be remembered for her love of Greenwich, which she passed on to her daughters and grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides from RVNA, Hospice, and the Town of Greenwich Homecare, especially Marie for the care she received during the past two years. Services will be private.
