Obituary: Peter Gasparino, 81

Peter Gasparino, 81 of Stamford, a longtime Greenwich resident, died on Sat. November 7, at Nathaniel Witherell. Born in Greenwich in 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph Gasparino and Lucy Yantorno Gasparino.

A graduate of Greenwich High School. Peter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He received his BS from Fairmont State University in West Virginia. He received his MS in Education from the University of Bridgeport.

Peter became Recreational Supervisor for the Town of Greenwich for 3 years. He then became a Teacher, Football Coach and Drama Director at St. Mary’s High School from 1963-1983. Leaving Teaching he became Vice President of Temco Building Maintenance for 27 years. He served on the Board of Estimate and Taxation in Greenwich for 24 years, Community Development Block Grant Committee in Greenwich for 15 years, a member of the Byram-Cos Cob Rotary Club for over 25 years, member of the Knights of Columbus for over 55 years and the Recreation Board of the Town of Greenwich for 5 years.

Peter is survived by his longtime companion Nan Markel, 3 daughters, Bernadette, Cathy and Ellen, a sister Barbara, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

He was predeceased by a daughter Laura. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am in St. Roch Church, 10 Saint Roch Ave, Greenwich.
