LuAnn Pasciak, 70

LuAnn Pasciak passed away at the age of 70 on August 25, 2025, at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, CT. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and cat mom.

LuAnn is survived by her son Andrew P. Mastalli, sister-in law Janis Pasciak, nieces Sarah Pasciak and Megan Pasciak (Jason) Breckenridge, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews Barrett, Kinsley, Rowan and Everly.

She was predeceased by her father Eugene Joseph Pasciak, mother Evelyn A. (Novak) Pasciak-Hennessy, and brother Dale Pasciak.

Born in Utica, NY, LuAnn grew up in Clinton, NY. After graduating from Clinton High School in 1972, she earned a BS in medical technology from SUNY Upstate Medical University in 1977. She then worked in the medical field at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, for several years before attending Pace University and earning a law degree in 1989.

After graduation, she worked for the New York State government in Albany, eventually moving to Greenwich, CT, where she spent nearly 25 years in finance at Swingshift and ICON Financial until her retirement in 2021.

Fond memories of LuAnn from her family, friends and neighbors:

Growing up, LuAnn lived with her grandmother, parents, brother and uncle on her grandmother’s farm.

She was very close to her grandmother Baba, learned Polish and was proud of her Polish ancestry. Not only did she learn about gardening from Baba, but also how to cook traditional Polish dishes. And LuAnn enjoyed dancing the polka! As a child, LuAnn worked very hard on developing her baton-twirling skills.

She was a regional champion and daring enough to twirl a lit fire baton.

As a tribute, LuAnn had her grandmother’s name (Anna Pawelec Novak) inscribed on the American Immigrant Wall of Honor on Ellis Island. It meant a lot to LuAnn and her family.

LuAnn was a spirited, strong and uniquely beautiful soul. She was a bright shining light with a beaming smile. She did everything her own way with unique flair and was always on the hunt for anything new—from food and plants to vintage items and clothes. She carved her own path and touched those along the way. Dearly beloved by people and kitty cats alike, LuAnn will forever be sorely missed.

She had a smile that lit up the room and a sharp wit that made everyone laugh. A laugh that reminded you that joy exists. A fascination with simple things. Turning the most basic ingredients into stunning meals, with intense olfactory skills, able to name almost any ingredient in a dish. She was always the one you could turn to with cooking questions of any kind.

She could tease more greens from the earth as a master gardener, always helping everyone with their plots at the garden. She was a master at natural remedies, understanding all the nuances of herbs and spices.

She sewed garments effortlessly and put together all kinds of outfits and accessories for her oh-so unique look, complete with her signature RED lipstick!!!

She loved books, always reading, always learning. She was known for never saying no to adventure, whether exploring Paris, spending months in Yellowstone or doing a day trip to NYC to see an exhibition on witches. She traveled the world always trying to find something never before seen. In 1979, she traveled with friends by Rail Pass through Europe. In Nice, she met an Iranian film director in exile who asked, “Do you want to go to Monaco?” “Oh yes!” He even gave her and her friends a small amount of money to play the slots!

She had a rare gift of immediately bonding with people and sharing all the emotions of living over a lifetime, despite distance and time. Most of all, she was a friend of the most beautiful kind. Generous by nature, there for you when you needed a friend. She was an honest and true friend that you called at 3 am to say, “I need your help, and bring a shovel.” She wouldn’t ask any questions and just say, “I’ll be right
there.”

Lulu was a dear friend and trusted confidant. She loved cooking and was quite skilled at it. As she possessed a sophisticated sense of taste for food, she was also adept at growing it. She had amazing knowledge of when to sow, nurture and harvest plants at just the right times, and would often arrive for lunches with a basket of freshly picked veggies. Cooking with LuAnn was always filled with laughter, intoxicating aromas, and of course, wine! Her bold, bright fashion sense and fearless attitude towards life will be missed.

To her new neighbors, LuAnn welcomed them into her life with warmth and affection, becoming a grandmother figure to their children. They will carry her memory with love and gratitude forever.

LuAnn was a single mom who did her best and so much more. She loved her son Andrew very much and was proud of his artistic talents.

These are our deepest memories and deepest loss. We send our love until we meet again.
