Joy Lina White Ubiña, 91

Joy Lina White Ubiña, a Greenwich, Connecticut resident and devoted mother and grandmother, died peacefully at her home on October 4, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Joy grew up between Fort Worth and Brady, the daughter of John and Joy White. She attended The Hockaday School in Dallas and later Mills College in California and Finch College in New York.

Joy shared a life with her husband, Senen Ubiña, in New York City, Madrid and East Hampton. She served as president of White Ranches, Inc., her family-owned company overseeing ranching operations and oil interests in Brady and west Texas. An avid entertainer with an exceptional eye for design, she created homes that were elegant and welcoming.

Joy maintained a lifelong connection to Spain and served for many years on the board of The Spanish Institute in New York, where she found a cultural home and many lasting friendships.

Family was at the center of Joy’s life. She is survived by her three children: John Dani; Victoria Ubiña and her husband, Peter Katzburg; and Senen Ubiña, known as ChiChi, and his wife, Elaine. She adored her grandchildren: Mary Alex Dani; Joy and Alex Katzburg; and Maria Elena Ubiña and her husband, Ashley Davies, Senen, Julio and Alberto Ubiña.

Joy had a rare ability to make people feel at home. She cherished the people who filled her homes and her life. Her elegance, generosity, humor and devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
