Carolyn Sherry, 75

Carolyn (Vidone) Sherry passed away peacefully, with grace, in the comfort of her own home on February 9, 2023.  She was born October 12, 1947 in Stamford, CT to Beatrice Carvette and Roger Jerry Vidone, living almost her entire life in Greenwich.

She was an integral part of the school community, serving as an administrative assistant at Greenwich High School (Clark house) for over 20 years and prior to that she worked at Eastern Middle School.  She loved running into former students in town and catching up with them, Carol had the uncanny ability to remember so many names.

One of her favorite spots to be with her friends and family was at Tod’s Point “Beach”, where she frequented during the summer months, giving “Sun Worshipping” it’s true meaning!  Carol loved country music, walking at the beach and traveling; enjoying many road trips to Mohegan Sun and has spent time along every beach surrounding Florida’s coastlines.  Once an avid bowler and competitor, Carol participated in a weekly women’s league for nearly two decades.  She was also a voracious reader and was never without a book in hand. Carol was a generous friend, loving sister, wife, and a devoted mother and grandmother who will dearly be missed.

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Steve Sherry and first-born son, Donald Lewandoski.  She is survived by her son, Keith Lewandoski of Quechee, Vermont, daughters, Joanne Schonberg of Trumbull , CT and Lori and (Steve) Lewandoski Keen of Stamford, CT and combined nine grandchildren whom she adored beyond measures (Evan, Grace and Laurel Lewandoski, Justin, Hannah, Ethan and Taylor Schonberg and Brodi and Austin Keen).  Carol is also survived by her sister, Victoria (Thomas) Bria of Sarasota, Florida and three nieces.  In addition, she is survived by her stepdaughter Stacy (Robert) Mortenson of Greenwich, step grandsons Kyle and Ryan Mortenson along with two great grandchildren, Kiera and Charlotte Mortenson also of Greenwich, CT.

There will be no calling hours.  A mass of Christian Burial will be held as St Roch’s church of Greenwich on Tuesday February 14th at 10:00am and interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greenwich Scholarship Association (GSA), PO Box 4627, Greenwich, CT 06831, in Carolyn’s honor, supporting Greenwich graduates as they head off to college.
