Carol MacKenzie Smith, age 70 of Fairfield, the beloved wife of the late Jeffrey P. Smith, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 4. She was born in Greenwich to the late George and Helen MacKenzie.
Carol grew up in Cos Cob and graduated from Greenwich High School. She worked for LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP for 17 years and the last 13 years she worked for Cummings and Lockwood in Greenwich. Carol loved her dog Lucky, working in her garden, traveling, spending the day at the beach with friends and of course being with her family.
Carol is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Kyle Ann McCarthy and her husband, Christopher and Kelli Lyn Smith; and her three cherished grandsons, Colin, Gavin and Dylan, all of Fairfield. She will also be missed by her sister, Suzanne O’Hara of Mansfield, MA. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Jean Fogg, Donald MacKenzie and John MacKenzie.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 10:30 am directly at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 S. Pine Creek Rd. in Fairfield. Interment is private. Visitation will take place on Monday, Dec. 7, from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center.
